Solway Coast
From the rich rolling dunes at Wolsty and Mawbray to the secluded salt marshes north of Anthorn, the Solway Coast is an internationally important landscape containing a variety of fragile habitats, and several Sites of Special Scientific Interest.
It is also a bird watchers' paradise! A short walk from Allonby is the Crosscanonby Carr Nature reserve, with an 'access for all' trail and the RSPB have a reserve at Campfield Marsh near Bowness-on-Solway the official end of Hadrian's Wall.
At the western end of the Solway is the Victorian seaside town of Silloth noted for its invigorating but mild climate, stunning sea views & sunsets and 'The Green', 36 acres of open grassy space complete with bandstand.
